Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Moovier collects, why, and the choices you have. It covers our mobile apps and the moovier.com website. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

Who we are

Moovier is operated by an individual developer based in Croatia. For any question about this policy or your data, contact hello@moovier.com — that is also the address to use to exercise any of the rights described below.

Information we collect

When you create an account we collect the email and name you provide, or the basic profile details (name, email) shared by Google or Apple when you sign in with one of those providers. We also store the content you create — your ratings, written reviews, optional links, and “watch again” flags. If you send us a bug report or feedback from the app, we store what you wrote, the category you picked, and basic technical details about your device that are attached automatically so we can reproduce the problem: your app version, platform (iOS or Android), and operating system version. Finally, our servers automatically log technical request data for security, debugging, and abuse prevention, including your IP address, request timestamps, and which endpoints were called; log entries containing passwords, tokens, or session cookies are automatically stripped out before they are written.

How we use your information

We use your information to authenticate you and keep you signed in, sync your reviews across devices and sessions, show you your own stats and history, and keep the Service secure and reliable (for example, by rate-limiting abusive requests). Bug reports and feedback are used to diagnose and fix problems, to decide what to build next, and to reply to you if we need more detail. We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for advertising.

Legal basis for processing (EU/EEA users)

Where the GDPR applies, we process your data to perform our contract with you (running your account and syncing your reviews) and on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the Service secure, reliable, and free from abuse (technical logs, rate limiting) and in fixing and improving it (bug reports and feedback you choose to send).

Third-party services

Movie and TV data and images are provided by The Movie Database (TMDB); browsing or adding a movie or TV review sends requests to TMDB. Podcast, YouTube, and other entries are typed in by you directly and are never sent to TMDB or any other third party. Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple are used for optional authentication — each provider only receives what is needed to verify your identity, and we do not share your Moovier data with Google, Apple, or TMDB. When you send a bug report, a notification containing your report and the email address on your account may be delivered to a third-party messaging tool we use to receive them, so it is not missed. These providers process data under their own privacy policies.

Data storage, security & retention

Your account details and reviews are stored in our database, hosted on servers located in Germany. Your authentication token is kept in your device’s secure storage (mobile) or a secure cookie (web) and is only sent to our servers to authorize your requests. We keep routine backups for disaster recovery, which may briefly retain data for a short period even after you delete it, before being cycled out.

Your rights & choices

You can view and edit your profile at any time, and permanently delete your account — along with all of your reviews and watch history — from the profile screen settings; deletion cannot be undone. Bug reports and feedback are an exception: we keep the report text and device details so a reported problem can still be fixed, but the link to your account is severed when you delete it, leaving the report anonymous. If the GDPR applies to you, you also have the right to request access to, correction of, or a copy of your data, and to object to certain processing — contact us at hello@moovier.com. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Croatia, AZOP). You have the right to request that we delete the data we have collected from you in the past. Reach out to us and we will make sure that all of your data is deleted within 30 days of receiving your request. Deleted information may be kept in backups for up to 90 days. Backups are accessed only if needed for disaster recovery.

Children's privacy

Moovier is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above when we do; continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the update.
